AMXhome utilizes two categories of devices - "native" and "generic". "Native" devices, in general, are devices that require two-way communication, including music and movie servers, distributed audio switchers, distributed video switchers, tuners, thermostats, and lighting controls. The programming and touch panel template pages have already been developed for these devices. "Generic" devices are controlled through one-way IR or RS-232 commands, and include displays, receivers, DVD players, set top boxes, and other source devices. You can add any device you use today by simply adding the IR file, or populating the appropriate serial strings.
